Our Family Doctors part of a FHO (Family Health Organization). Family Health Organization (FHO) is a group of family doctors who work together giving you the best care and quality services. FHOs provide care during regular office hours and access to THAS (after hours phone services available 24 hours/ day).
The enrolled patients must commit to receiving their primary health care Monday-Friday from their primary physician. Additionally, as a patient of an FHO, you will have access to referrals to specialists and having your doctor informed of your care both in and out of the hospital.
Periodically, we receive a list from the Ministry of Health of our registered patients who have used the services of other family physicians or general practitioners (GPs). Each time any of our patient visits another primary care provider (e.g; Walk-in clinic, or another family doctor ), our clinic is billed by the ministry. That does not include emergency room visits or specialists visits.
Walk-in clinics may be convenient, but their care quality is limited as they do not have access to your medical records.
The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care sees FHOs as a cost effective way to provide quality health care in Ontario. Please DO NOT access primary care from other walk-in clinics as this reduces the quality of your health care. Other walk-in clinics rarely send records to your doctor after your visit. This leads to a duplication of services performed as often patients need to see their primary family doctor for the same medical problem.
Furthermore, many patients may not know that under our agreement with the Ministry, our fees are deducted for visits by patients to family doctors outside of our FHO.
For after-hours medical assistance, you can speak to a nurse anytime through Telehealth 1-866-553-7205 (TTY: 1-866-250-3379)
The Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) pays for most of your medical visits to our office. However, there are uninsured services, which OHIP does not cover. While you can pay for these services on an as-needed basis, block fees provide a more convenient and cost-effective way to manage these charges. Block fees cover most of your uninsured services for the entire year for one annual fee. For the majority of patients this alternative to pay-per-service will provide significant financial saving

All prescriptions refills will require an appointment either in-office or by phone. Please call
our office or book online to schedule an appointment.
It is your responsibility to see your family doctor before your prescription refills run out. If you run out of refills before your next visit, your pharmacy is able (as permitted by current regulations) to refill most of your regular, long-term prescriptions as an “emergency supply” until you visit your doctor.
You can also choose to pay for Rx renewal without a visit (by fax or phone) Please check our uninsured services
The following patients must make an office in-perosn appointment for their medications:
1- Patients with Diabetes if they have not been seen in office for more than 3 months.
2- Patients who are on narcotic or controlled medications.
3- Other Patients who have not been seen in office for more than 2 years.
4-Any other patients if the Doctor decides that an office in-person visit is more appropriate.
Generally speaking, there are very few acceptable medical exemptions to the COVID-19 vaccination. (e.g., an allergist/immunologist-confirmed severe allergy or anaphylactic reaction to a previous dose of a COVID-19 vaccine or to any of its components that cannot be mitigated; or a diagnosed episode of myocarditis/ pericarditis after receipt of an mRNA vaccine).
The Government of Ontario has determined that the previous Annual Physical Examination as a screening tool for healthy persons did not reduce deaths from cancer or heart disease; but could add to stress levels. The Government also believes that over-testing was wasteful.
For example, fasting blood sugars, cholesterol levels, thyroid testing and EKGs do not have to be done on every patient, every year. Testing must be personalized.
Therefore, the new exam is NOT a COMPLETE PHYSICAL EXAM, but rather an "intermediate exam" with preventative care issues being addressed (need for mammograms, bone density, colonoscopy, Pap tests, vaccinations).
Please call the office if you would like to request a wellness check and Dr. Guirguis will decide if you require one.

All blood test requests in Canada must be made through a licensed doctor. Doctors can request blood work on your behalf at their discretion, based on what they decide is medically appropriate.
Please note that we’re not able to guarantee that the doctor will order any specific tests.
There are multiple private labs in Ontario that can offer you private testing without a doctor requisition. We don’t recommend any certain laboratory and it is up to the patients to seek this service if they choose to.
We understand that this situation may happen sometimes. In case of emergency it is always best to go to the nearest ER, but if your problem is not urgent enough for ER and you still need to see the doctor sooner, just give us a call and we will try our best to accommodate your appointment according to your medical condition. In cases of this, our office has "urgent same day" appointments so that we can fit in urgent matters.
We don't recommend walk-in clinics, although it may sound more convenient, you are not receiving the best care. Every time one of our registered patients go to a walk-in clinic, our clinic gets penalized financially by the Ministry of Health. Every month we get a report from the Ministry about which patients have visited walk-in clinics, those who do that frequently will risk de-rostering.
If you require an urgent appointment please call our offices at: Mississauga: (905) 820 5102, or Oakville: (289) 529-0220.
We will be happy to accommodate you. You can also book through our online booking.
Although it may sound logical, it is usually not possible for different reasons explained below:
The responsibility of the family doctor is to discuss with the patient the reason of the referral and fax it to the specialist office. Once the referral is sent, it is up to the specialist office to review the referral, and decide on basis of urgency when the patients appointment will be. You will be contacted directly by the specialist office when your appointment is booked.
